Rhubarb – the word of the day.

Turn out today was just as expected – not a lot, not too few. It was cozy enough for a battle royale of 2 talented groups of people that had to come up with a play of the following general plot with the objective of being humorous—a princess is to be married off to a man that is able to make her smile. 3 men “audition” to be her prince, but they all fail to make her smile, and they are then sent to be beheaded. However, the 3rd man, just before being beheaded, does something to make the princess smile. Something. Yes anything actually. That’s Yvonne + anything you want to do! Go do the math. Oh yeah. You can only use the word Rhubarb – you can’t say anything else.

Our creativity flowed at alarming speeds as we rushed to finalise our skits. We a a meager 40 minute or so of preparation time before the showcase. For such a short period of preparation, however, our skits went surprisingly well. Both groups were sufficiently entertaining, but my hat goes off to the other group’s superb usage of popular soundtracks sung with the word rhubarb. Both groups displayed excellent usage of space and characterization. Yvonne was the undeniable winner of the ‘Most Shocking’ title, while Ananraj came in a close second with the display of his hair and a shocking revelation of his close relation to the primate kingdom. To think that I was actually a staunch believer of Creationism before this workshop session.

This workshop was a light-hearted yet interesting way of churning our creative juices. It was a great post FoA workshop that really made us look forward for further workshops to come.
