WELCOME
ACSIS was born on September 2006 and ever since it has seen numerous productions which have been ULTRA-successful. The first major production was on the 16th of March 2007. It was none other than Peter Shaffer’s acclaimed play – BLACK COMEDY. It was truly a commercial successful debut performance garnering positive reviews and the money was used to help needy students through the school’s Student Welfare Fund. The next major production was on the 27th and the 28th of July 2007 when ACSIS put up a joint drama production entitled MADE IN THE MIDDLE KINGDOM together for the first time with the ACS Drama Club during the Festival of Arts 2007. The show featured three plays with oriental influences. 2 major productions in the first official year of its functioning was a major feat but ACSIS did not stop there.
In 2008, ACSIS made its national debut at the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging on the 15th of May. It staged a version of John S Well’s COMPETITION PIECE. ACSIS nailed its debut with a GOLD WITH HONOURS and the stunning performance by ACSIS was hailed by the audience as one of the best the SYF has even seen in its history. This piece was also selected for the SYF Drama Festival on 23rd of July 2008. On the 25th and 26th of July, ACSIS once again collaborated with the ACS Drama Club to put SCHOOL DAZE, a production which showcased 3 plays about school life. ACSIS was featured in the first one, JANE and the last one was COMPETITION PIECE. Once again, the ticket earnings were used to help needy students of the school.
Having broken numerous records, ACSIS continued to put up praiseworthy productions. 2009 was nevertheless an eventful year filled with productions. On the 15th of April 2009, ACSIS staged a performance entitled ACSIS ASSORTMENTS which comprised of a set of mini-performances (including MRT RIDE- a play written by our very own student) featuring every member of the club. It was an astounding success even though it was put up within a short period of time. During the Dr. Lee Suan Yew Speaker of the Year Award Performance, ACSIS proudly presented Stuart Walker’s adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s twisted fairytale, THE BIRTHDAY OF THE INFANTA to a strong audience of 3000 who thoroughly enjoyed it. Soon after, ACSIS once again worked together with the talented ACS Drama Club to put up Robert Bolt’s THE THWARTING OF BARON BOLLIGREW on the 31st of July and the 1st of August. The British Comedy was one of the best plays done in ACSIS history and it was a combined effort of both clubs. The show was an immense success and all the hard work paid off. The money earned went to the Student Welfare Fund.
ACSIS also has weekly sessions to nuture the acting skills of the students. The vibrant sessions are vital to the performance of the club. The sessions equip members with the essential skills because it helps them to discover themselves. The teachers, Mr. Ferdinand Quek, Mr. Brian Connor and Mdm. Manjit Kaur Herzog are truly dedicated and work very hard for the students. Passion drives the club and ACSIS will continue to be the BEST it can be now and forever more!
(ACSIS ASSORTMENTS)own consumption only is coming up soon, stay tuned…
